Welcome to How to Make Money as a Content Creator, the course that covers everything you need to start earning money online doing what you love. I’m James Caran, content creator at WayAway and Travelpayouts. In this video, we share 5 tips on how to take the quality of your content to the next level and get tangible results!
As you already know, there is a ton of information on the internet and some of it is pretty influential! So it can be intimidating when first starting out. How can you get your content noticed, stand out from the crowd, and still stay true to your brand? Let’s start with one of the most crucial tips for creating top-quality content that turns visitors into customers!
First, you need to provide value to your audience! If you’ve watched our first lesson in this module, you know that in order to get good ideas for content, you have to understand your target audience and their pain points. Knowing this about your customers can guide you in the right direction. You should work to create something that adds value or brings them happiness. And remember to take off your sales hat, people like sincerity, not desperation!
Our second tip is to make sure your content is clear and understandable! However you choose to get your message across, whether it’s through blogs, social media, videos or any other medium, try to provide an enjoyable experience for your audience. How can you be clear when writing a blog post, you ask?
First, you should have a solid structure and clean formatting. A good rule of thumb is to follow the one paragraph per idea rule! This keeps your ideas concise and paragraphs short! Leave some white space for easy reading, limit your use of bold and italics, and use compelling visuals that support your ideas!
Video content is super fun to make, but takes some time to plan! Be sure to give yourself that time and write a script, so you can work efficiently when it gets down to the creation of the final product! Be sure to use a clean background and plenty of light when filming! Always remove awkward pauses, silences or messy background noise! Don’t forget your silent watchers! Use engaging visuals, captions, subtitles, and text overlays!
When sharing your content on social media, follow these tips:
Don’t forget — getting a second eye on your work before publishing is never a bad idea! Have a friend or proofreader check for clean formatting, solid structure and grammar mistakes! And keep in mind that not everyone has the experience you do – avoid using terms that people may not understand.
Now, onto our third tip: Make your content actionable when necessary. If there is something you want your readers to do, include a Call To Action! In digital marketing and content creation, this is a term you’ll want to know: CTA. CTAs help your readers take the next step, for example they include words like: download, buy now, see price, or FREE! Of course, some content isn’t meant for action! But being able to differentiate the informative moments from actionable ones is important when thinking about how to help your customer.
Our 4th tip is to keep up and align with the latest trends! Part of content creation is knowing what’s popular within your niche. Trends change fast – so staying up to date with what’s “in” will help you stand out from the crowd. Or at least ensure that your content stays relevant.
Finally, our last tip to creating “top-notch” content is to watch your competitors! Competitor research is super helpful when creating top quality content. You want to see what gaps there are to fill in, which keywords your competitors are ranking for in Google Search, and try to outperform that! Ask yourself what you can bring to the table to entice more people in your direction.
